This now light, elegant and meticulously restored terrace had been used as student accommodation for over 10 years, and prior to that as a nursing home (joined to the adjacent property internally). The project involved removing numerous later partitions and recreating as far as possible the original plan form. Extensive works were carried out, including structural support works, restoring and cleaning layers of unsuitable old paints from the cantilevered stone stairs and Bath stone flags in the entrance hall, the shutters, fireplaces and original cornices and architraves. Original floorboards were retained and re-laid where possible, with reclaimed flooring used elsewhere. Missing or damaged features were copied in detail from the originals where possible, and re-introduced.

The property was completely rewired and replumbed, fire protection upgraded, lighting control introduced, and new bespoke fixtures, fittings and joinery installed to work in sympathy with the property while updating it to create a functional, elegant and comfortable family home. A mix of existing, new, vintage and antique furniture, light fittings and artwork completes the decorative scheme.
